I Played In the Grand Canyon!

About 25 years ago I attended a Tony Robbins Goal Setting workshop. One of the exercises he gave the group was for each of us to write down all our travel goals. He instructed us to write as FAST as we could and to not stop writing until the bell went off.

This was the time to dream big and to write down every single place each us wanted to travel to. He said act as if money was no object. He also instructed us to NOT Think about how it would be accomplished. So I proceeded to create a pretty sizable travel list.

What is so amazing about that Travel Dream List I created over 25 years ago is, I've been invited to perform my guitar at a lot of those places on that list...

Which brings me to...The Grand Canyon! (Yes, this was on my list)...

Last Friday a friend of mine called and asked if I was availble to play a gig on Sunday November 6, 2011. I'd be tied up from 2-5 pm.

Then he asked,"Are you ok flying in a helicopter"?
I said, "sure, where's the gig"?
He said, "The Grand Canyon".

I'm thinking how cool is that!!! A Gig in the Grand Canyon!! My first question was, "Can vickie go with me on this gig"? Vickie tends to go on most of my out of town gigs. No, vickie didn't go on this trip...

Anyway, I was hired to play a wedding and then do a mini concert in the middle of the Grand Canyon.

One word comes to mind...AWEOME!!!

The helicopter ride was spectacular! Smooth and scenic! Maverick Helicopter based in Las Vegas flew us into the Canyon. This is definitly the was to see Las Vegas and the Grand Canyon!

We landed deep in the Grand Canyon. This is truly GOD'S Country! The sky was blue, there was a chill in the air and the Canyon was magnificent. The silence of the canyon was hauntingly loud, as if one could hear the Great Grand Canyon breathing.

As I was setting up to play, I wondered how many other guitarist in the world have had the opportunity to serenade the Grand Canyon. I quietly said hello to the Canyon. Then bowed my
head for a silent prayer. I was a mere guest in the belly of the Grand Canyon and wanted to be respectfull of this holy ground.

I started to play my guitar and the wedding began...It was PERFECT!

I continued playing fo the next 30 minutes. As I was playing I looked around the canyon in total awe. Then I felt emotional and shed a slight tear.

What was I feeling? I was feeling grateful!
-Grateful for being alive.
-Grateful for my friend calling for this gig.
-Grateful for all my friends and family.
-Grateful for my health.
-Grateful for the opportunity to experience the beauty and magnificence of this Grand Canyon.

And it is GRAND...
The only this missing on the trip was Vickie and I'll take her another time.

If you ever get the chance to take a helpicopter ride to this wonder of the world, go. You will not be dissappointed.

Keep Being Brilliant,
Robby
