I Am Ticked Off!
Why The People DO Not Trust Politicians…
While we the American people thought our Senators were
crafting and creating a bill to help save our extemely
desperate economy, these lawmakes could not resist
padding it with a billon dollars in earmarks!
These earmarks have nothing to do with restoring
confidence in our financial markets and economy.
A bill that started at 3 pages quickly grew to over 451 pages
Yes, a number of Senators added a number of earmarks
into this 451-page bill.
Hey, the bigger the bill, the more you can hide!
Check this out…
A $2 million tax benefit for makers of wooden arrows
for children;
A $100 million tax break to benefit auto racetrack
owners;
$192 million in rebates on excise taxes for the Puerto
Rican and Virgin Islands rum industry;
$148 million in tax relief for U.S. wool fabric producers;
$49 million tax benefit for fishermen and other plaintiffs
who sued over the 1989 tanker Exxon Valdez spill.
Does this bother you?
==========================
Here are those Earmarks in more detail:
Tax breaks in bailout bill
The financial rescue measure passed by the Senate on
Wednesday included a series of tax incentives
benefiting specific industries or states.
Wooden arrows: This tax break, backed by Oregon’s two
senators, would benefit an Oregon manufacturer of
wooden arrows for children by $2 million over 10 years.
Racetracks: Earmark would allow auto racetrack owners
to depreciate their facilities over seven years, saving
the industry $100 million over two years.
Rum: Offers rum producers in Puerto Rico and the Virgin
Islands a rebate on excise taxes worth $192 million over
two years.
Wool: Reduces tariffs for U.S. makers of wool fabric that
use imported yarn, worth $148 million over five years. The
measure was pushed by Reps. Louise Slaughter, D-N.Y., and
Melissa Bean, D-Ill.
Exxon Valdez: Plaintiffs in the suit over the 1989 oil
spill could spread their tax payments on punitive damages
over three years, cutting their tax bill by $49 million.
The measure was backed by Rep. Don Young, R-Alaska.
American Samoa: Allows certain corporations to reduce their
tax liability on income earned in American Samoa, at a cost
of $33 million over two years.
Hollywood: Extends a tax break for film and TV companies that
keep their production in the United States, worth $478
million over 10 years. The provision was originally pushed by
Rep. Diane Watson, D-Los Angeles.
What do these earmarks have to do with this Bailout?
Absolutely nothing!
I am pissed and disgusted with all politicians involved.
Politicians wonder why the people don’t trust them,
it’s because crap like this.
Our economy is in “EMERGENCY MODE” and what do some of these
politicians do? Sneak in a few earmarks quietly!
Shame on both the Republicans and Democrats!
Shame on those that thought they could just sneak it in the bill.
Shame on all the politicians that agreed to be part of the
good ol boys network and not say or do anything to stop it!
Another Fine Example of Our Politicians Hard At Work For You!
Forgettaboutit!
Well I feel better not that I got that off my chest.
How do you feel?
Are you ticked off?
Please post your comments now!
Now Try TO Have a Good Weekend,

What we need is the good American people to have an old fashion uprising. Our Goverment needs to be brought to there knees and held accountable for the actions against the American people. How about tax breaks for Troops who are fighting, or tax breaks for families of soldiers who have died for these selfish bastards in congress. Or how about tax breaks for Law Enforcement who protect and die for these selfish bastards. I am tired of my money going to some other bullshit Country for some bullshit reasons, and NOT my own. Yeh am I pissed off you bet…… Is that going to fix it no. In order for change to happen. Some great disaster has to first. 911 ring a bell. Our goverment never is proactive, only trying to fix issues aafter they are broke. Get rid of the greedy politicians and the lawyers in this Couintry and that is a start…..

Thanks for the post, Robby.
Totally agree with you. Yes, I’m ticked off as well. Business as usual, our tax dollars at work. Been researching and checking in with experts inside the banking/lending industry. Result is, there is still plenty of money out there for qualified people/businesses, they’re just not giving it away anymore. The sky is not falling, but those lies sell a lot of ads in print and on the air. Don’t get me started about the poor folks who took out $300K loans for homes they could never afford because they couldn’t read the many pages of disclosures about their Adjustable Rate Mortgages, and the system that made them those loans.
It’s an election year, time to ramp up some hysteria for the Dems to rush in and “save” us from. Personally, I refuse to pretend there is a “recession” (There is a waiting line at local restaurants every evening, the movie theaters will be filled up tonight, this weekend it will be tough to find a good parking space at any of the regional malls… but amazingly, the people eating/shopping/playing out there have been so brainwashed by the media that they’ll tell you how bad this economy is, even while they are stuffing shopping bags into the back of their new SUV… weird. The actual numbers of growth, productivity, etc., in this great country contradict the lies the media wants everyone to believe. But…. Basic Marketing 101, create some “pain”, then sell something that people think will take away their pain, i.e., a new shiny smooth-talking politician that will bring “Change”. Swell. Big Government and Socialism is not the change I want… but there was a lady that came to my door last week, trying to get out the vote for Obama, and apparently for people in that camp, that kind of change is wanted; In the course of our discussion, she stated that “a little Socialism is a good thing.” God (or whatever entity in the Universe you prefer) help us.
OK, end of rant. But somehow, I don’t feel any better. It hurts deeply to see America slipping away. I heard on the radio yesterday that some group wants to regulate how much beef we can eat every year. Pardon my French, but, Go To Hell. Enough, already.
What happened to the America that most of us grew up in?

When I said I feel better that i got that off my chest I was kidding. As many have explained to me, earmarks are part of the political system. Well, it’s wrong! The problem is on both the Republicans and Democrats. They have both accepted this practice to be ok. They can say the earmarks are legal to do, but it doesn’t make it right!
They are all in on it and promise not to tell on they other guy so when they want an earmark no one will tell. It’s disgusting! I’d love to see any of these people that added earmarks to this bailout bill go on CNN or Fox TV and try to justify it. Guess what? It won’t happen because these politicians would be humilated and they deserve it! End of rant for now…Robby

I wonder if this congress will be the first to get a 0% approval rating. Vote the bastards out or recall or impeach them. And what happened to term limits? No one should be in congress for more than 8 or 10 years and their salaries, pensions and campaign contributions should be limited. Prosecute those who broke the law and censure those who violated the public trust. Americans deserve better than the thieves we have running this country. We want real reform and we want it now.
Before you vote for any candidate, look at their voting record and compare it to their rhetoric. I put no stock in campaign promises. It’s all happy talk to make us little people feel good about getting financially screwed.

Rob, You forgot one more very important item. The AMT Tax which hasn’t been adjusted for inflation since it was first introduced several years ago was adjusted for inflation. As a result, it will save many middle income earners from having to pay additional income tax, money loss to the FEDS that was added to that giv-a-way package.
I agree, several of the items are rediculous, especially the wodden arrow study, .
I woould remind you once again, the new bill was simply added to the pork bill which had already been approved.
