Danny Gans

Danny Gans – 1956-2009 R.I.P.

One of the Las Vegas strip’s most extraordianary entertainers,
”The Man of Many Voices, Danny Gans” died early Saturday morning.

I first heard about Danny Gans soon after I moved to Las Vegas in early
1997. He started at the Stratosphere Hotel and soon moved to the Rio
then the Mirage Hotel where he spent the last 8 years. Then in February
2009 he came to an agreement with with Steve Wynn and played
the Encore Theater. This was a New Beginning with new songs,
new comedy bits and new routines.

For those of you that have never heard of Danny Gans, he was
named “Las Vegas Entertainer of the Year” a record 11 times
in a row.

The first time I saw his show was in 2001. He could dance, he could sing,
and he could make people laugh. I was totally blown away. I went to that show
with my father, mother and Vickie. Something we all noticed in the very first
show. RED Socks!

Yes, Red Socks! From that very first moment that I saw Danny  Gans perform
with Red socks, I had to get a pair! And to this, I still wear Red socks when I perform.

He has touched millions of people through his performances and charity
work. He was a big family man too.

A few years ago I had the opportunity to play a private party at
Danny Gans house. It was a special event for his parents. I met his
wife and kids. What a wonderful family. I’ll never forget this gig.

People come and go in and out of our lives . Sometimes they
are here for a moment and leave a big impression and other times
leave no significant impression at all.

Danny has literally inspired and entertained millions of people over the
course of his career. He made people laugh and made people cry.
When you went to his show, he took you on a journey that made
you forget about all your problems and left you feeling inspired.

From this moment on, when I put on my Red Socks, I will silently say
hello Danny and Thank You for the Red Socks!

He will be missed but will not be forgotten…

Sincerely,
Robby

I saw Danny Gans at the Mirage about 5 years ago, and his show, bar none, was one of the most memorable entertainment experiences I have ever had. He is a great loss to Las Vegas!
