Friday, December 19th, 2008

Howdy, Howdy!

I can’t begin to tell you how often people ask me if it ever snows
in Las Vegas. I’ve been here over 10 years now and I have seen it snow
a little bit here in there. The mountains almost always get covered every winter.

But this past week we actually got 6 inches of snow! Here is a short video
of is starting to snow…

By the way, it all melted by the next day!

I Want a Super Bailout For Christmas!

Thursday, December 18th, 2008

Hi,

With the economy being what it is and all the “Bailout” News, I got inspired
to write this short lyric called” I Want a Super Bailout For Christmas”.

I also make reference to the Car guys wanting a bailout, but as I said in the video,
there was a documentary film a few years ago called ” Who Killed The Electric Car”.

It kind of flew under the radar, but the fact is, the car guys hurts us back in the
1990’s when they killed the electric car.. Here’s a link to it if you are interested.

Anyway, I hope you enjoy the Video and the music clips..

Is American Idol a Good Thing?

Sunday, December 7th, 2008

I’d like to start wihth a quote…

Quote of the week:
“Music is spiritual. The music business is not.”
Van Morrison

Today’s Topic…Is American Idol a Good Thing?

I get asked by a lot of people at my shows…
What do you really think of “American Idol” and other
similar TV shows?

First, you gotta know where I’m coming from.
I never really believed in music competitions to
start with.

Think about that Van Morrison quote from above…
“Music is Spiritual…The Business is not!”

How can you judge ones passion?
How can you judge ones vision?
How can you judge ones expression?

In sports you have winners and losers.

In boxing or ultimate fighting you knock a guy out
or he knocks you out. The last guy standing wins!

Baseball, Basketball, Tennis, Soccer…
He with the most points wins!

Running, Skiing, biking,…
The best time wins!

When it comes to music how do you judge one master
against another? Some people like Bach while
others love Mozart!

When it comes to music, you can to a certain degree
evaluate ones technique on the instrument.

You can have an opinion about ones interpretation.

Does the performer have excellent dynamic control of
there instrument? How is there intimation?

Do they keep good tempo?

Bottom line, when it comes to a certain level of
excellence, it comes down to a matter of taste.

Now let’s look at American Idol…
What do they say is the purpose of the show?

We the audience are told the purpose is to find
the very next best singer.

But look closely at what we really get.
We have Pretty Paula…
Ready Randy…and
Sick Simon

Like the old Clint Eastwood Movie,..
The Good - The Bad and The Ugly!

Let me clarify, I am not calling anyone ugly…
As a matter of fact I hate that word…

If the show was just with Paula and Randy, you’d
fall asleep. They are nice people and all…

But it’s Simon that provides the spice!

People tune in to watch and see Simon ripped the heart
out of some ones dream!

People tune in to see Simon demean another human being.

People tune in to see Simon crush a persons hope.

Mix that with a boat load of performers with various levels
of talent, skill, and years of experience…

What have you got? ENTERTAINMENT!
There you have it!

So what do I think of American Idol?
I say, if you are a performer, go for it.
Make the best use of it. It you lose, learn what you
can from it.

It you win, learn how to leverage the experience!
Either way, just keep learning!

And don’t let anyone get in the way of your dream!

What do you think? Leave your comment.

You Make It a Great Day!

Did You Vote?

Tuesday, November 4th, 2008

Hello My Fellow Americans!

Did you vote early? or…
Are you voting tomorrow?

One thing is for sure, this election has put a fire
in the people again.

People are picking sides again.
People are getting involved.
Young, old…Grand Kids and Grandma’s!

There was a bit on the news in Las Vegas that
family, friends and co-workers have been having
agressive conversations about the there
chosen candidate.

Heck, a number of people I know told me flat out
if I voted for Obama they may not talk to me.
It’s a sad fact but true.

Then my girlfriend Vickie was at her nail
salon and they had to put up a big sign that read:
“No Talk About Politics” or you will be asked
to leave. Apparently, a fight broke out between
2 customers last week!

It’s just unbelievable…

I don’t know where you stand on who you will
vote for, but whoever you choose, I honor and respect
your choice.

If McCain wins, I’ll support him as president.
If Obama wins, I’ll support him.

And by the way, I voted early for Obama.

I can see it now, many of my subscribers will
probably un-subscribe to my list.

That’s ok too. That’s there choice.

I know one thing for sure, the G.W. Bush years have
been the worst in history, and it ain’t over yet.

It is time for a change…

Maybe I have made the biggest mistake of my life by
voting for Obama. Time will tell. I don’t think so though.

But what I like most about America is, I have a choice
and I can cast my vote.

Go ahead and share your thoughts and make a post
on my blog…

Happy Voting and Have a Great Day!
