The History of Thanksgiving

Monday, November 24th, 2008

Happy Thanksgiving!

I did a little research on the history of Thanksgiving in the
United States and wanted to share it with you…

In 1817, New York was the first state to adopt Thanksgiving
as an official holiday.

By the time the Civil War erupted in the 1860’s, every state
had also made Thanksgiving a state holiday.

In 1863, President Abraham Lincoln declared a national day of
Thanksgiving on the last Thursday of November.

Since that time, every president has issued a Thanksgiving Day
Proclamation every Thanksgiving, declaring it to be a national
day of thanks.

In 1939, President Franklin Roosevelt declared that the
Thanksgiving would be on the third Thursday in November.

Congress approved that declaration two year later in 1941.

So what are your plans for this Thanksgiving day?
What are you grateful for?
Who are you grateful for?
What are your favorite foods on Thanksgiving?
What are your favorite desets for Thanksgiving?
Do you watch the parades on TV?

Go ahead and leave a comment about what you like or will be doing
on Thanksgiving….

At the very least, call somebody you haven’t talked to in a long
time. Tell them that you love them and let them know you were
thinkng about them…

Looks like Vickie and I will be having some people over…
We’ll be eatting, watching TV and Playing music!

But also know, on this day we will be saying a very special
prayer for all our friends.

We are grateful for your friendship.
We are grateful that you are in our life!

Peace, Many Blessings and Lot’s of Cash!

Did You Vote?

Tuesday, November 4th, 2008

Hello My Fellow Americans!

Did you vote early? or…
Are you voting tomorrow?

One thing is for sure, this election has put a fire
in the people again.

People are picking sides again.
People are getting involved.
Young, old…Grand Kids and Grandma’s!

There was a bit on the news in Las Vegas that
family, friends and co-workers have been having
agressive conversations about the there
chosen candidate.

Heck, a number of people I know told me flat out
if I voted for Obama they may not talk to me.
It’s a sad fact but true.

Then my girlfriend Vickie was at her nail
salon and they had to put up a big sign that read:
“No Talk About Politics” or you will be asked
to leave. Apparently, a fight broke out between
2 customers last week!

It’s just unbelievable…

I don’t know where you stand on who you will
vote for, but whoever you choose, I honor and respect
your choice.

If McCain wins, I’ll support him as president.
If Obama wins, I’ll support him.

And by the way, I voted early for Obama.

I can see it now, many of my subscribers will
probably un-subscribe to my list.

That’s ok too. That’s there choice.

I know one thing for sure, the G.W. Bush years have
been the worst in history, and it ain’t over yet.

It is time for a change…

Maybe I have made the biggest mistake of my life by
voting for Obama. Time will tell. I don’t think so though.

But what I like most about America is, I have a choice
and I can cast my vote.

Go ahead and share your thoughts and make a post
on my blog…

Happy Voting and Have a Great Day!
